The English culture in Tetouan
This Friday 17th December at 19'00h., The auditorium of the Instituto Cervantes de Tetouan, will be a conference-debate:
English culture in Tetuan (1960-1980), by Enrique Gozalbes Cravioto.

Enrique Gozalbes Cravioto a PhD in Ancient History and professor of University of Castilla-La Mancha. Your link to Tetouan is narrow, born and raised here, the son of Gozalbes Busto, director for fifteen years of the then English Library of Tetouan, 1970-1984, and Notebooks English Library of Tetouan, 1972-1981. In this conference, the speakers talked about the English Cultural Action outside between 60 and 80, paying particular attention to the cultural life of the city Tetouan. Everyone is invited to participate in the symposium later to share the experiences and memories of that time.

In the library we have several publications of father and son, and the entire collection of Notebooks Library of Tetouan, in digital format and on paper. All documents can be found in sections Al-Andalus and North Africa Morocco.

Exhibition: Tribute to Vicente Aleixandre "

Opens Tuesday 21 September at the Exhibition Hall of the Instituto Cervantes de Tetouan "Tribute to Vicente Aleixandre (25 poems, 25 artists)" . Tetuán The exhibition will be until 22 October 2010.

This traveling exhibition, which runs for the first time in Spain and visit Tetouan through the Cervantes Institute, wants to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of the poet through of 25 poems and 25 paintings inspired by them.


A selection of fifty compositions procedenes author of classic poems and Scope (1928), Espadas como labios (1932), Shadow Paradise (1944), History of the Heart (1954), Poems of consummation (1968) or knowledge Dialogues (1974). Each artist of the twenty that make up this exhibition, he chose a text on which it inspired. The result is twofold: the word and the visual reconstruction of the word.


The library offers an exhibition of books from all the work of Aleixandre, available to users, and exposes the public for the first time a sample of handwritten letters addressed to Vicente Aleixandre Gorgé Jacinto López. These letters were donated by Mrs. Josephine Semple , widow of Lopez Gorgé our library in October 2009.

Interestingly, the selection of letters that speak of Aleixandre travel to Tetouan and collaboration of this in different era's literary magazine, poetry, awards and comments from the works of both writers. We invite you to discover a little more to this great poet through his letters and articles Gorgé great admirer of Aleixandre, wrote of him.
